The Adventures Of Robin Hood

The Adventures Of Robin HoodThe Adventures of Robin Hood is a television series made in Britain. It first aired on September 22, 1955, running until September 26, 1960. During this time there were four seasons and a total of 143 episodes broadcast.

Richard Greene starred as Robin Hood, and many actors, who later became stars, appeared including Patrick Troughton, Jane Asher and Michael Caine.

A large proportion of the writers were in fact Americans, who had been blacklisted during the McCarthy era. Another interesting fact is that English historians were hired as consultants. Their knowledge proved a great help in creating some of the plots.

The show also had a famous theme the words of which ran:

Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, with his band of men
Feared by the bad, loved by the good;
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Robin Hood!
He called the greatest archers to a tavern on the green,
They vowed to help the people of the king,
They handled all the trouble on the English country scene,
And still found plenty of time to sing
