This series of Sherlock Holmes stories was first aired in 1954. Consisting of 39 episodes, it was actually filmed in France, but made use of stock footage of London.
The series was produced by Sheldon Reynolds and starred Ronald Howard, who was the son of Leslie Howard.
Most of the stories were written for the series, and were not by Sherlock Holmes's creator, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
